New York,
NY - On Sunday, October 16, 2004, Hermanas of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas
Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. "Walked for Education" as
they participated in the East Spirit Freedom Walk for Scholarship
America.
The Easy
Spirit Freedom Walk for Scholarship America is a vital project that
promotes educational access, both locally and nationally. Each walk
makes a significant impact in the number of scholarships awarded to
our youth.
As a chapter of Dollars for Scholars, Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas
Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. actively raised money to help support
this effort, by raising more than $2,00o for scholarships. Recognition
went to Hermana Nancy Reyes who fundraised over $400 for this initiative.
"Thank you to all of the enthusiastic participants this past
weekend. It was chilly and hilly but we did it. To the Hermanas that
raised money and gave money, thank you for your support. Three cheers
to everyone! Our Scholarship effort is finally off the ground,"
said Emily Rodriguez, Director of Finance.
Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc.
was founded on December 1, 1987 at Binghamton University as an organization
