National Performance Team Wins 2nd Place in Latinostep.com 6th Annual Summer Step Show

New York, NY - The National Performance Team (NPT) of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc., returned to the stepping seen with a BANG! winning second place at this year's Latinosstep.com Championship Tournament held on July 25, 2004 at Columbia University.

After taking a break from the stepping scene for over a year, NPT ripped Columbia University's stage with their outstanding performance. The team decided on a theme which revolved around the 2004 summer blockbuster film "CATWOMAN". Their combination of cat costumes, line formations and crisp and precise moves created a spectacular show. NPT couldn't have made a better choice.

The audience raved about NPT's performance. The team's second place win was a surprise to many. Latinostep.com said, "Where the real story is not that Omega Phi Beta won, who were the favored winners. The real story was Sigma Lambda Upsilon who also executed a show that everyone expected to win hands down. The Señoritas shocked the world with their magical sitting position and… some of the best female stepping ever witnessed. To most, Sigma Lambda Upsilon was an afterthought to even place in always the highly saturated sorority category… If I were SLU I'd take that show on road…"

NPT's future performances include: Step Show at Ramapo on October 4th , 2004, Stomp Fest in Rhode Island on November 6th, 2004 and Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. National Convention at Yale University from December 3rd -5th , 2004.

Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc., was founded on December 1, 1987 at Binghamton University as an organization that would provide sisterhood and support while also promoting academic achievement, service to the community and cultural enrichment. Almost seventeen years since its establishment, the organization has expanded to 30 schools across the country, touching the lives of more than 300 women.
