New York, NY - On October 28, 2004, members of La Unidad Latina/Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. announced that Hermana Carmen Maldonado of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. has been appointed to the Board of Directors of La Unidad Latina Foundation (LULF). The objectives of the Foundation are to award scholarships and grants to worthy and needy students for the pursuit of higher education, encourage participation of Latinos in educational programs and activities and support community programs which aid in the civic empowerment and educational improvement of the Latino community.
Sigma Lambda
Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. was founded
on December 1, 1987 at Binghamton University as an organization that
would provide sisterhood and support while also promoting academic
achievement, service to the community and cultural enrichment. Almost
seventeen years since its establishment, the organization has expanded
to 30 schools across the country, touching the lives of more than
