National Performance Team Wins 3rd Place at the Latinostep.com
7th Annual Summer Step Show

New York, NY - The National Performance Team (NPT) of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc., was victorious once again as they placed 3rd in this year's Latinosstep.com Championship Tournament held on Saturday, July 23, 2005 at Columbia University.
Although this year's show allowed for NO THEMES to be used, NPT still managed to grab the audience's attention with their vibrant red wigs, big smiles and unique moves. What was also eye catching was the amount of Hermanas stepping on stage. The team went from eight participants, in last year's show, to fourteen women including recently initiated Hermanas and past NPT performers.

"As a Neo, I'm excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the National Performance Team. It was a wonderful experience for me to take part in this year's step show. It was amazing!... Although we had a number of long practices, stayed up late and I had to travel from Rochester to New York City on weekends, in the end it was worth it. I'm committed to being a member of the team and attributing to the best that it can be," said Hermana Arlene Peralta, member of the National Performance Team of Sigma Lambda Upsilon.

Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. was founded on December 1, 1987 at Binghamton University as an organization that would provide sisterhood and support while also promoting academic achievement, service to the community and cultural enrichment. Today, 17 years later, the sorority's purpose remains to unite women committed to seeking the political and social advancement of the under-represented populations. Through the Hermanas leadership, the sorority has 27 undergraduate chapters at over 30 campuses, 13 graduate -professional chapters and has touched the lives of more than 300 women.
