18th Annual Founders' Day Convention

Providence, RI- From December 2nd through December 4th, 2005, the Hermanas of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. celebrated their 18th Annual National Founders' Day Convention at Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island.

As every year, Hermanas participated in various events, hosted by Rho Chapter and the National Board Convention Planning Committee. The weekend included sisterhood bonding activities, informative workshops, banquet and an Hermana brunch.

"...I had a fabulous time. Everyone did such an awesome job in making this happen... I have to tell you that this was among the best Founders' Day Conventions I have been to," said Rosann Santos, National Board Advisor of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc.
Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. was founded on December 1, 1987 at Binghamton University as an organization that would provide sisterhood and support while also promoting academic achievement, service to the community and cultural enrichment. Today, 18 years later, the sorority's purpose remains to unite women committed to seeking the advancement of under-represented populations.

Through the leadership of our Hermanas, the Sorority has grown to 28 undergraduate chapters at over 30 campuses, establishing chapters at 7 of the 8 Ivy League Colleges/Universities, 13 graduate/professional chapters and has touched the lives of hundreds of women. The Hermanas of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority Inc. continue the legacy of their Founders' vision by effectively bridging the gap between the Latino community and the campuses they represent.
