HISTORY
In the search for the bonds of sisterhood four women from the University of Massachusetts Amherst came across, Sincerity, Loyalty, and Unity three words that instead of a dictionary description beside them, had pictures and concrete events that without explanation displayed dedication and genuine character. Sigma Lambda Upsilon/ Señoritas Latinas Unidas, Sorority, Inc., made a lasting impression; it was an organization whose goals and ideals were centered on educating and providing service to underrepresented communities. It was an organization that paralleled the very ethics those women were striving for.
In the Fall 2000 the Phi Chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon, Señoritas Latinas Unidas, Sorority, Inc. emerged.
The four women who make up the Alpha line of Phenomenal Phi Chapter are Carmen Monroy, Elizabeth Sanchez, Jennifer Lodge and Shahira Payano.
