History Sorority Symbols Goals & Ideals Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Seņoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. exists to create a bridge between all women committed to seeking the advancement of Latino(as). The organization was founded at the State University of New York at Binghamton on December 1, 1987 by Cynthia Santiago, Adriana Zamora, Carmen Garcia, and Carol Torres. Through their efforts, they have created an organization that provides sisterhood and support, while also promoting academic achievement, service to the community and cultural enrichment. Their vision has created a voice for women in an academic setting. The essence of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Seņoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. is epitomized by the diverse cultural backgrounds and customs that allow our Hermanas to share each other's heritage. Through mutual respect, trust, honesty, and academic support, we also share this common goal-to unite and empower all Hermanas.
