NEW YORK, N.Y. – Sigma Lambda Upsilon/ Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority,  Inc. proudly identifies Literacy as its national philanthropy, and advocates it as a means of ensuring the empowerment and success of our nation and of  the people of its diverse communities.

Sigma Lambda Upsilon strives to encourage literacy, not only as an activity, but also as an asset that affords limitless possibilities; hence, promoting  the acts of reading and writing as enjoyable, exciting, and empowering.

New York, NY - On October 28, 2004, members of La Unidad Latina/Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. announced that Hermana Carmen Maldonado of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. has been appointed to the Board of Directors of La Unidad Latina Foundation (LULF).

The La Unidad Latina Foundation was established by the Board of Trustees of La Unidad Latina/Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. on September 18, 1999 to serve as an independent, nonprofit, non partisan charitable organization dedicated to educational achievement and civic empowerment in the Latino community. Its mission is to promote academic excellence for Latinos.
