Providence, RI - On Wednesday, January 4, 2006 Hermana Rosanna Castro of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/SeƱoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. was sworn into the Providence School Board by Mayor David N. Cicilline at City Hall in Providence, Rhode Island.
After submitting her application to the board, H. Rosanna became one of nine finalists to be interviewed by the School Board Nominating Commission from a larger pool of applicants. As a result of the interviews, the School Board Nominating Commission chose four of the interviewees to join the board, H. Rosanna being one of them. She is very excited to join the board.
H. Rosanna is a graduate of the Providence public schools. Upon completion of high school, she enrolled at Brown University, where she earned a degree in public policy. Currently, she works as a family-planning coordinator for the Rhode Island Department of Health. She also teaches English as a second language at the International Institute.
