Sigma Lambda Upsilon

Alumnae Involvement

Our commitment to our Hermandad reaches far beyond our undergraduate years through the involvement of our Graduate Professional chapters. Our graduate members, alumnae, have helped establish the vision of our beloved sorority on graduate campuses and within the realms of the professional world. Beyond the campus, Hermanas of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. coordinate professional, social, and community-oriented events aligned with the goals and ideals of the Hermandad. Our alumnae represent women from all different lifestyles and professional interests. We are mothers, wives, students, and professionals. We are teachers, lawyers, bankers and more.

One of the most significant roles of the Graduate Professional Hermanas is as a mentor to our undergraduate members. By supporting the interests and activities of the local undergraduate chapters, alumnae become mentors and models dedicated to the personal and professional development of our younger members. By sharing experiences and wisdom, they not only teach through example, but they also engage in a continual learning and growth process that is at the root of self and community empowerment.

Our alumnae also enhance the professional networks within and beyond Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. They are connectors to different professional fields, opening doors and opportunities for not only Hermanas, but also our communities. As women of culture and experience, alumnae bring positive exposure to the organization on many complementary levels. They also embody the diversity and support that is yet another distinguishing characteristic of our Hermandad.

As college graduates, we promote and encourage educational advancement and achievement. As we move beyond college and into the professional work, our lives and livelihoods may change, but our dedication to being a Señorita is Hasta La Muerte.
