HISTORY
Their journey of establishing a chapter of this amazing Hermandad at Pace University officially began in Fall of 2009. After overcoming many challenges in their path, they were finally able to establish the Alpha Xi Chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. at Pace University- Pleasantville in the Spring of 2011. With unconditional support from both of their deans, the Alpha Xi chapter was established by Veronica Sigcha, Gabriela Quinche, Ghislaine Ruiz, Ashley Caceres, Perla Fermin, Lisa Bharat, Alisha Bacchus, Zanib Naveed, and Erika Torres. Within these nine there is a great amount of cultural diversity, ranging from Portuguese, Puerto Rican, Ecuadorian, Dominican, Guyanese, and Pakistani.
Since its inception the Alpha Xi chapter has upheld their goals and ideals. Within the first year of inception the chapter has hosted many programs, including topics about their philanthropy, Literacy. The chapter has also been the recipient of two Cacique awards for Community Service and Leadership. As a Chapter and as individuals, these nine women all strive to continue on the path of greatness and to be role models for college students as well as setting an example for other organizations on campus and their communities.
