University of Connecticut
HISTORY
In the Spring of 2011, four dedicated and motivated young women founded the Alpha Omicron Chapter at the University of Connecticut-Storrs. These four women felt their campus was in need of an organization that would serve as a positive role model for the Latino community. Not only did they want to create a positive image for Latinos but, they also wanted to create an atmosphere which provided a strong sisterhood for women of diverse backgrounds. These ideals of sisterhood and change led them to found a chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Incorporated on their campus. The sorority’s ideals, goals, and mission embodied all that they were looking for as Latinas, and as a result, these four women knew they had the potential of changing the norm amongst all women. Due to their commitment and diligence, their vision became a reality and the Alarmingly Outstanding, Alpha Omicron Chapter was established.
The founding line of the Alpha Omicron Chapter consists of:
Hermana Lisette Espinal
Hermana Alexis M. Ruiz
Hermana Jael C. Olivares
Hermana Brimar E. Guerrero
