Congratulations to the 2011 Cacique Award Winners! The awards are presented at our Annual Founder's Day Banquet and are designed to honor the Hermanas and Chapters, both Undergraduate and Graduate/Professional, that have exemplified what it means to be an Hermana in the areas of Community Service, Leadership, Sisterhood, and Academic Excellence.  

Congrats to Alpha Eta Chapter for winning Overall Excellence Award. Two years in a row!

Hermana Among 40 Under 40 Rising Latino Stars

Albany, New York – During the 2011 Somos El Futuro Conference, Hermana Angie Aguilar was recognized as one of this year’s 40 under 40 Rising Latino Stars. She was recognized by The Hispanic Coalition NY, Inc. for her efforts as a community organizer in Long Island.

Sigma Lambda Upsilon to Read Across America

New York, NY- Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. (SLU) will join the National Education Association (NEA) to celebrate Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss’ birthday on Wednesday March 2, 2011. Beginning in 1998, NEA's Read Across America encourages reading to every child in every community. It is an annual reading motivation and awareness program.

National Book Club Members Meet Pulitzer Prize Winning Journalist & Author

New York, NY- Sigma Lambda Upsilon/ Senoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc.’s national book club members will have the opportunity to meet Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Mirta Ojito, author of Finding Mañana: A Memoir of a Cuban Exodus on Friday, January 28th.

About Us

Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc., was founded on December 1, 1987 at Binghamton University as an organization that would provide sisterhood and support while also promoting academic achievement, service to the community, leadership, and cultural enrichment. Almost twenty-three years since its establishment, the organization has expanded to over 35 schools across the country, touching the lives of more than 600 women.
